Day 40 - Tacoma WA to Portland OR
Hey!
Here I am playing catch up again. We got up late-ish in Tacoma and found coffee with Sascha and Kerry. Then we headed out on the short drive to Portland. This was to be our last show with Parenthetical Girls, which is pretty sad. They head to Europe in a week though, so it’s sadness mixed with some jealousy.
We arrived at Backspace in Portland, a large coffee and computers establishment with painted variations on our next commander-in-chief adorning the walls. There we met up with Austin’s fiancee, Sarah, who will be joining us for the last week of the tour. Sort of strange that we only have a week left.
I met up with my friend Melissa to catch up at Shanghai, an underground bar next to Portland landmarks Berbati’s Pan (where we’ve played once with Serena Maneesh and seen Jens Lekman) and Voodoo Donuts (home of the bacon maple bar).
Returning to Backspace, I watched my last Parenthetical Girls show for some time. Too bad. They’re infinitely fun to watch live, and even more fun to hang out with. We’ll miss those folks for sure.
Onward to San Francisco.
