Though listed at about three hours, the drive from NYC to Boston can easily take six hours. Though our personal worst is eight.
Luckily, my day started out wonderfully. This is in a big part due to dear dear friend and ex-Okie Amanda. She owns those crazy eyes on the front of our last record. She took me to brunch at Roebling Tea Room and proceeded to order all four of the specials!
This included a traditional beans/eggs/cheese biscuits plate, meatballs with cabbages, potato pancakes stacked under poached eggs and sausage gravy, as well as a steak sandwich loaded with carmelized onions and horseradish. All this plus Mountain Water tea and fresh squeezed orange juice! Amazing!
Afterward we made the drive to Boston with Tom along for the ride. He’s a Mass native and helped us with our Southie accents, which basically amounted to cursing like the locals.
Great Scott was the destination and we had a nice time there. “Jumping Jigawatts!” was quoted more than a few times as a result. Excellent sound, staff and brews. Holiday Shores played another great set as well.
Special thanks to Jenn and Dave who always put us up in Boston and usually look the other way when we raid their fridge. Todd cooked up a late night snack, dumpster style: sweet potato cooked with onion, bell pepper, apple, garlic, vinegar and Asian noodles. I passed.
To Buffalo!
