KYLEs tourBLOG

Monday 11.16.09 - Washington DC

We started the day at the hotel before heading to College Park, Maryland, where Josh had a radio performance scheduled at the University of Maryland’s campus radio station.

While he was broadcasting a reverb drenched solo performance to the Terapins, Austin, Todd and I got down with an epic game of hacky sack.

Todd noticed a lot of attractive lady Terps on campus and his method for getting their attention repeatedly cracked Austin and I up. He kept jumping in the middle of the hack circle and booting the hack at girls walking by. With high accuracy! He probably hit 4 or 5 ladies, though it never really worked out as a solid opener.

Afterward we headed to The Red And Black in DC. It’s a hip, small bar with an intimate venue upstairs. When we arrived we enjoyed an in-house meal of Cuban and muffaletta sandwhiches and red beans and rice. And it was the first appearance of Yuengling beer this tour, which was the beverage of choice that night. East coast knows what’s up.

It was a good night in DC though the same two homeless dudes repeatedly hit us up for change, hoping they’d either built rapport or that we’d somehow come into money within the last 12 minutes.

The show was fun, and I even got to sing sone backup vocals with Holiday Shores, as they took on the Byrds version of Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin Nowhere”. Love that song!

Afterwards we stayed at ex-Normanite Allison’s house. Really great to see some other Okies in attendance: James, Shereen and Brandon!

Onward to Philly!
