Saturday 11.14.09 - Columbus, OH

Yesterday we left our plush accomodations at Glassworks and headed to Columbus, where we could hear fans cheer the Ohio State Buckeyes on to the Rose Bowl, defeating Iowa St in overtime.

Game day is as crazy in Columbus as it is in Norman, and there was a steady flow of foot traffic along with parties and drunken revelry.

We were a bit confused when we pulled up to Cafe Bourbon Street, our venue destination for the night. To start, it wasn’t on Bourbon Street, nor Nawlins themed. And moreover, next to the cafe sign was another sign that read: “Extreme Weiners.” Which is what the place was actually called.

Extreme Weiners was a dive bar with a nice kitchen featuring fifteen hotdog and burger varieties, from standard coneys to vegan dogs, rueban style dogs and even fried varieties. Pretty tasty!

Another Holiday Shores/Evangelicals hack session got underway, this time with frequent guests from people walking by. And when the hacky sack was booted up to the gutter of the convenience store next door, it took some serious teamwork and a little help from the kindness of strangers. We eventually rigged a tube with some wire and duct tape to build a sort of animal-snare-like device. Great success!

Afterwards we had one more dog and a little bro-ing down with HS. Then we hit te road for an off day near DC.

Til next time! KD
